Utilizing a prior work, "8-Bit Beach #23", I created an art concept for a 2D point & click adventure game.
Utilizing Midjourney 7, you'll note that at least 3 lanes of parallax scrolling are occurring at any one time + background animation (the beachgoer that pops in from the bottom-right).
Parallax scrolling, popularized in the early 1980s, debuted in video games like Jump Bug (1981) with limited depth effects and was fully realized in Moon Patrol (1982) with multiple background layers scrolling at different speeds. Jungle King (1982), released shortly after, also featured parallax scrolling, contributing to its widespread adoption in 2D gaming.
