# THE DWELLINGS OF INFINITY ## Worlds Within Worlds ### A Project of Visionary Classical Sublimism “We do not inhabit worlds. Worlds inhabit us.” ## The Concept There are worlds that reveal themselves not through their vastness, but through what they are capable of holding. An ancient book, a vase, a pumpkin, a precious egg, a casket: seemingly finite, familiar objects, enclosed within material boundaries. Yet each of them can become the dwelling place of a reality infinitely greater than its own form. In "The Dwellings of Infinity', the object is not merely a decorative surface. It is a threshold between dimensions of existence. Within it unfolds an autonomous world, with its own light, its own time, its own architecture, and its own inhabitants. Beyond it lies another world, no less mysterious, which embraces the object and imaginatively continues its story. The artwork emerges from the encounter between these realities. ## The Three Levels of the Image The artistic composition unfolds across three dimensions. **The first world is the painting.** An independent pictorial composition, conceived according to the principles of the great classical tradition. The human figure, the landscape, the light, the animals, and the architecture form a complete reality, capable of existing independently of the object that will later contain it. **The second world is the object.** The painting enters a vase, a book, a pumpkin, an egg, or another symbolic vessel. But it does not enter as an ornament applied to its surface. The object becomes architecture, sanctuary, and passageway. Its material acquires depth, and its form becomes part of the narrative. **The third world is the surrounding space.** Around the object, another reality unfolds: staircases, columns, skies, seas, gardens, constellations, and imaginary architectures. This space is not merely a background. It interacts with the object, receives its light, extends its lines, and imaginatively crosses its boundaries. Thus, the image becomes a system of worlds contained within one another, without any one of them being definitively considered the largest or the most real. ## The Five Dwellings Five objects suspended in space may form the core of a unified composition: the egg, the book, the vase, the pumpkin, and the casket. Each represents a different possibility of existence. **The egg** holds the origin, birth, and life not yet revealed. Its enclosed surface protects a universe awaiting manifestation. **The book** preserves memory. Its pages contain not only words, but places, destinies, and times that continue to live beyond those who imagined them. **The vase** represents the form that receives and embraces. Originally created to contain something material, it becomes the guardian of the immaterial: a room, a landscape, a horizon, an entire world. **The pumpkin** unites nature and metamorphosis. A simple, earthly, organic form can open onto a wondrous reality, as though infinity were already present within the humblest things. **The casket** safeguards what is precious, not because of its material value, but because it contains a secret, a story, a fragment of the soul. The dwellings are different, yet they belong to a single vision: every finite form can contain a depth that transcends its own limits. ## The Stairways Between Dimensions Staircases constitute one of the fundamental elements of the project. They wind around objects, pass through arches, ascend toward unknown spaces, and sometimes appear to lead to impossible destinations. They are fashioned from materials associated with traditional architecture—marble, stone, bronze, and glass—yet unfold according to a spatial logic that transcends ordinary reality. The staircases represent more than physical pathways, they symbolize the passage from the knowledge of one world to the discovery of another. Every step suggests that reality is not exhausted by what appears immediately before our eyes. ## The Woman and the Lion Two presences recur throughout these dwellings: the woman and the white lion. The woman represents consciousness: the awareness that contemplates, remembers, chooses, and passes through transformation. The lion embodies a different yet complementary force: presence, courage, nobility, and fidelity to one's deepest identity. They are not simply characters repeated in different settings. They are the thread connecting the dimensions, allowing the viewer to recognize continuity through change. When the woman remains inside the vase while the lion begins to emerge from it, one of the essential moments of the series is revealed. The creature crosses the boundary between the image contained within the object and the world that contains it. What seemed to belong exclusively to the painting acquires a new presence. The boundary between representation and reality becomes uncertain. ## Painting and Form The project belongs to the artistic language of my Visionary Classical Sublimism. Imagination does not abandon the discipline of classical painting. On the contrary, it draws upon its possibilities to lend credibility to what does not exist in the visible world. Anatomical construction, perspective, composition, the relationship between light and shadow, and the rendering of materials must preserve the dignity of the great painting tradition. Richness of detail is not an end in itself. Every ornament must contribute to the overall harmony. Every reflection must reveal the structure of the object. Every tonal transition must enhance the sense of depth. Beauty does not arise from indiscriminate accumulation, but from the balance between complexity and restraint. Architecture may be impossible, but it must possess its own internal coherence. Light may belong to an imaginary world, but it must remain convincing in painterly terms. The marvelous is not imposed through spectacular effects: it emerges from the naturalness with which the impossible is made visible. ## The Philosophical Meaning *The Dwellings of Infinity* begins with a question: "How vast can something be when it is contained within something small?" Human experience teaches us that material dimensions do not necessarily correspond to the depth of existence. A memory can contain an entire lifetime. A book can preserve a civilization. An image can sustain a presence beyond time. In the same way, a painted object can become the dwelling place of a Universe. Infinity is not merely that which extends endlessly through space. It may also be that which deepens endlessly within a form. The worlds contained within objects thus become a metaphor for consciousness, memory, imagination, and the mystery of existence. We do not know whether what we perceive outside is truly the final level of reality, or merely another world contained within an even greater dwelling. The artwork leaves this question open. ## A Tradition That Continues The project is born from the desire to continue the great tradition of art. Classical painting has always sought to give visible form to what transcends immediate experience: myth, the sacred, allegory, dreams, and the ideal of Beauty. "Worlds Within Worlds" develops this pursuit through a new compositional structure. Ancient forms and contemporary imagination are not in opposition. They become two aspects of the same aspiration: to represent what is worthy of contemplation. ## Conclusion "The Dwellings of Infinity" is not merely a series of fantastic objects containing paintings, but a pictorial reflection on the possibility that every reality may hold another within itself. Forms become dwellings. Dwellings become worlds. Worlds become thresholds. And every threshold offers a glimpse of an existence greater than what we are able to see. We do not inhabit worlds. Worlds inhabit us.
