Nicola Romeo, one of those rare entrepreneurs able to combine engineering and business acumen to forge value, invested and took up the business reins in 1915, producing WWI vehicles for the Italian armed forces, but boldly announced that Società Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili, or ALFA for short, would begin production under the name Alfa Romeo after the war. And they did, developing the Alfa Romeo trademark with a multitude of racing victories.
This Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Gran Sport Zagato Roadster is a crystalline example of ALFA's business fortitude and the brilliant engineering mind of Vittorio Jano. The Gran Sport features an inline 1752 cc twin overhead cam 6-cylinder engine based on Jano's monumental P2 Grand Prix car that won the 1925 world championship for Alfa Romeo.
