This artwork was created to encapsulate the feeling of walking one’s own path, doing one’s own thing, and finding a sense of rest within oneself. It is about moving at your own rhythm, unshaken by the pace of the world.
Commissioned by my friend Aaron, Calm was also inspired by a quote he shared from Henry David Thoreau:
"If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away."
The painting follows a lone figure on different paths—through forests, toward a distant hut—each scene carrying a quiet beauty. Yet, solitude here is not loneliness; it is presence, purpose, and peace.
Reflections on Calm
Not all paths are meant to be followed. Some are meant to be made.
Step steady, step slow, step as you will.
The wind does not ask the river to hurry,
nor does the sun rush the bloom of a flower.
Walk in your own time,
and the world will unfold at your feet.
"There is a place where the world quiets, where the noise of expectation fades.
It is found not in the footsteps of the many, but in the rhythm of your own stride.
Keep walking. The path is yours alone to know."
To Aaron
"If the drum is distant, let it call.
If the road is empty, let it stretch.
A path walked alone is not lonely—
it is simply uncharted.
Step steady. The music is yours to hear."
