Intervals is a series of short-form works that emerge from a system developed through repeated translation between painting and artificial intelligence. Each work begins with a watercolour painting, whose material behaviour — density, flow, and gesture — establishes an underlying structure. This structure is carried through the process and embedded within each scene, where it persists as a continuous internal presence. The works are intentionally reduced. Movement is minimal, and sound is restrained — often a single sustained tone or a small number of simple notes — forming a continuous perceptual field rather than a composed sequence. Form remains stable, allowing attention to be held within a brief duration. The work does not resolve or disperse, but remains present — creating a condition in which perception can deepen. Using the artificial to intensify the experience of the real, the series asks whether the same perceptual state can persist as the work moves between systems. The work ends not in the artwork, but in the viewer’s experience.
