In the spring of this year I had a chance to visit a new location in the Caineville Mesa area of Southeastern Utah. I wasn't expecting to find Mud tiles and cracks, but on the tip of a friend, I parked and walked looking for the wash where rain might drain off of the nearby butte. I found the tiles, and I also found this tiny leafy friend who'd anchor herself among the cracks.
I've seen few leafy plants like this among these desolate locations and this one is truly rare in my travels.
