Chapter 1. As salt water trickled down my face and an engulfing pain coursed through my body, I knew it was more than just surface level grief, that it was more than just an ordinary experience, it was something that was happening deep in my soul, it was a pain that encapsulated my inner man, hunching me over in an attempt to ease its impact while it swallowed me whole, eating me alive from the inside out. It was torture. (Part 1, Water and Creation) Water is life and nothing can live without it. It is at the heart of all creation because creation cannot be sustained in its absence. --- My tears are a life-force and as I shed them I purge myself of toxins and I release my essence into the world around me. It then becomes my responsibility whether I use it to create or not, as that creation has already been sustained. It is also important to note that my tears are also draining my life force from me and without replenishing it myself, I face an imminent depletion that will inevitably lead to a crash. This is the first Midnight Madness we will encounter on this journey because as you can see, the same thing that's killing me is meant to set me free and propel me forward. My freedom is in my chains and my release is in my ruin, that is why I write to you today and that is why this collection had to be made because the truth is, a creator with nothing to show for it can only turn to madness and as it stands right now, I'm sure I've entered into the realm of insanity. (Part 2, Salt and Water) --- Salt and water are two things used for deliverance and used to expel evil spirits, they are also used to enhance energy and to bring things into the natural world, ie. they are used to create and cleanse. As tears are shed you are expelling negative energy from within your being while you amplify it simultaneously. It's synergy, expulsion and creation but what you expel and what you create essentially depends on you, this dance and inner balance centers around intention, YOUR intention and that in itself dictates your experience moving forward. The demons within you are released while you amplify the emotions that encapsulate you in that moment but often times as people we release our light and create more pain as we sink deeper in the hole, a lie of the enemy. Tears are freeing and a way for you to release your creative essence into the world while you free up room and space within yourself to create more but as any creative process, it's up to you what you choose to create, release and amplify. It is all in your hands even when you think it's not, because you are free to choose even though you feel like you can't. This is the final conundrum of this chapter and another Midnight Madness because when you are overwhelmed by a simple solution because you are existing within chaos and surrounded by complications, things can become helter skelter and what was once a simple step forward turns into a pilgrimage and an entire journey back to yourself, back to the simplicity of discovery and back to a place where all you have is all you need. So my dearest friend, if you have gotten this far I need you to know that these words won't fully or even partially explain this piece, my grief, state of mind state or any of the art I create moving forward, for like you I am trying to experience it all and understand what I am trying to communicate in real time. This is a journal entry and the first chapter of healing and of truth. These words pour out of me as a stream of consciousness in a moment of forced release after an elongated period stagnation. They come to you with no pre-plan, with no pre-thought and no structure, just a raw depiction of my thoughts as they flow out of me while I jump off the cliff and into the cavern I've been trying to fly my way across. So as Chapter 1 concludes, I ask you to join me on this journey, while I take the action I should have taken sooner but I know my timing is perfect because life comes full circle and your experiences shape your creations, just as your decisions pave your path, I just hope mine do my art and my story justice. This is the healing that I knew I needed but I've been prolonging and hopefully through impact, this journey can heal you too. Yours always, Mudiwa aka Midnight's Muse| M.C.
