緋の中でも特に強い黄みがかった朱色。
「猩々」は中国の伝説上の霊獣であり、鮮やかな赤い体毛を持ち、犬や猿に似た姿とされる。
室町時代後期、南蛮貿易により鮮烈な真紅の織物がもたらされ、戦国武将が霊獣と見間違うかのような鮮烈な真紅を纏い戦場を駆け巡ったことから、この色を「猩々」の伝説にならって”猩々緋”と命名した。

"猩々(Xingxing)" is a legendary Chinese spirit beast that has bright red body hair and resembles a dog or monkey.
In the late Muromachi period, the Nanban trade brought bright crimson textiles. Sengoku-Warlords were clad in intense crimson, as if mistaking them for spirit beasts, and ran around the battlefield.
And this color was named "猩々緋(Shojohi)" because the Sengoku-Warlords who wore scarlet were likened to appearance of legendary spirit beast "猩々(Xingxing)".
