The Procession

A sizable floating piece of ice, probably more than one thousand years-old, is separated from the glacier it was part of, slowly initiating its travel towards the sea, through the Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon in Iceland. Along the way, its shape is constantly molded while it melts, part of a rhythmic procession with thousands of other ice pieces, leaving bystanders in awe with both the beauty and shock of this dance. This is a place that was not supposed to be, so we pay witness with due respect. Each fraction of a second that is visually memorized in this location captures a unique array of transient sculptures, an extremely poignant reminder of both the impermanence of things and the need to act quickly and responsibly.
