As I sit at my desk, staring blankly at the computer screen, my mind begins to wander. It's been happening a lot lately, and I can't seem to shake the feeling of heaviness that seems to hang over me like a cloud. Suddenly, I'm hit with a wave of negative thoughts. I start to feel like a failure, like I'll never amount to anything. I start to feel like I'm not good enough, like I'm not worthy of love or happiness.
I try to push these thoughts away, but they keep creeping back up. I start to feel overwhelmed and helpless. I start to feel like there's no way out, like I'm stuck in this cycle of darkness forever.
But then I remember that I have the power to choose my thoughts, and that I can choose to focus on the positive things in my life instead of dwelling on the negative. I've been here before; I know how to get out of it!
So, I take a deep breath and try to refocus my attention. Then I think of my family, my friends, people that love me and care for me. Think of the positive things in my life, like having a job, a roof over my head. These may seem like small things, but they are things that bring me joy and help me to see that there is good in the world.
I also try to engage in activities that bring me pleasure and help to lift my mood. I go for a walk outside, listen to music, or call a friend to chat.
Over time, with practice and patience, I start to notice that my dark thoughts are occurring less frequently and that I'm feeling more positive and hopeful. I realize that it's not always easy, but with self-care and support, it is possible to break free from the cycle of negative thinking.
Disclosure: These are not my current feelings. I've been in a dark place before, and I tried to convey how it felt and what helped me overcome them.
