There are animals that know if they stay they die, if they go they live. Birds cross oceans. Whales follow food across oceans . Herds move with the rain. They go far. Humans have made leaving mean too many things. Failure. Instability. A lack of commitment. Endurance is viewed as noble and those who wander are considered young and brave. Nature is not loyal to one version of itself. Why should humans stay in one place? Intelligence is not always knowing how to make something work. Sometimes it is knowing when to leave the thing that once sustained you, because it no longer does. A place. A job. A relationship. A version of yourself you had to become to survive the past... There are things we outgrow long before we admit it. But we stay and call it commitment. We stay and call it discipline. We stay because leaving would force us to explain ourselves outside the comfort zones. I have spent much of my life moving. Not to run away from things, and not because I have a fear of commitment, or that I didn't belong where I was.. I did. Home was the place that taught me it was ok to go. There is a kind of wisdom in recognising when the land beneath you changes constantly. And there is another kind of peace in trusting yourself enough to move before everything goes dead. Humans praise roots. But roots are not the only way to survive. We were built to move.
