We often picture karma as an external force that will come and restore justice, with our own vision serving as the ruler for that justice. But to me, karma feels more like an internal mechanism that restores balance. If you do something bad to others, it inevitably alters you, and the loss of purity - that is karma.
If you hate someone, that hatred poisons you, creating a toxic landfill right in your heart, and that daily sense of suffocation - that is karma too.
If you repeatedly betray another’s love and trust, then the desert in which your soul one day finds itself - starving for love yet unable to find it - that, too, is karma.
Karma is less of an external whip punishing us, and more of the internal consequences of our own choices.
