Lights Storm

A storm is brewing at Lights Beach, along Western Australia's Southern Coast, while shafts of light fight to illuminate the scene against the darkness of the storm. The headland over the National Park is slowly disappearing as the rain squalls form, the wind builds and batters as the ocean begins to froth, bubble and boil, and the waves at the mercy of the wind are thrown against the rocks as the darkness of the cloud engulfs the sky. Standing on the top of the dune I am buffeted by the wind and reminded by the occasional raindrop on my lens that my time here is limited. Not to be deterred, leaning into the wind, I take attempt after attempt to find the right shutter speed, combined with the right amount of camera movement for the ICM image that is in my mind to be born. Then, just before it is time to bail, it happens, this image appears on the back of my camera! This photograph was made through Intentional Camera Movement and in such a way as to imitate the artists paintbrush through that movement, and yet still capture the scene. This image contains no AI or Photoshop effects. It has been cataloged and processing in Lightroom.
