Cast off the northern coast of Sicily, the island of Stromboli is home to one incredibly volatile volcano. For nearly 90 years, this speck of land in the Tyrrhenian Sea has been erupting almost continuously. In fact, its fountain-like spews of molten rock are so distinctive that geologists use the term “Strombolian” to describe similar volcanic eruptions around the world. I didn't manage to fly the drone above the volcano because of the blustery weather, however I took a beautiful top-down shot of the beach portraying the waves and the characteristic black sand of the island.
