Freya is the goddess of love and fertility in Norse mythology, and she is associated with sex, lust, beauty, sorcery, gold, war, and death. She rules over Fólkvangr, a heavenly field, where she receives half of those who die in battle. The rest of which will go to Odins hall Valhalla. It is said that Freya is the archetype of the völva, a professional practitioner of seiðr (magic which is related to both the telling and the shaping of the future). It was she who first brought this art to the gods.
