Laura seen “The Recipe” which is one of my alternate book related paintings and requested one for herself. Laura asked if the flowers could be growing out of an apple or the book “To Kill A Mockingbird”, which is the reason she became a teacher. Instead of choosing one, I decided to create a piece incorporating both request simultaneously, while adding specific titles on the books that relate to Laura and I.
“The Apple” represents life and the time one person puts into something to help it grow and become fruitful to others .
“Syllabus” a key book to the stack. A daily plan to execute and utilize time to its fullest extent while educating others .
“Comic con 2024’ Laura is a huge comic fan who will be at comicon this year and mentioned it as I was dropping off Laura’s limited edition “Mother’s Day” print. At the same time Laura requested this painting, so I thought it would be fitting to add the title to honor her passion for the comic book world!
“Class of 05 Yearbook” represents the year I graduated while adding a timeline to the painting.
“English 101” is a must since Laura was my English teacher all 4 years I attended South El Monte High School.
“The Green Book” is what Laura brings to the table. Her own dash of education that guided me and many others on a path to graduation. From supporting to teaching, volunteering and guidance, lessons, wisdom to countless hours of knowledge filled with kindness. One of the G.O.A.T’s in the education system!
