"Unity" is a 1 of 1 animated artwork created with p5.js by artist Jimena Buena Vida.

As artists, our purpose is to transmute and inspire. In this new chapter for our country (2024 presidential election), I encourage each of us to seek freedom to think and feel, to cultivate love, and foster belonging. Whatever your arena, keep showing up, creating, and sharing your work with courage. We don't need permission.

The world needs it now more than ever .

Born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, Jimena Buena Vida is a generative artist and mother currently based in the United States. Drawing inspiration from her Latin American roots and informed by her background in engineering, Jimena's art practice blends intuition, code, and rule-based techniques. Guided by her own journey, her creations in JavaScript illuminate the intersection of art, meditation, emotions, and technology. At the heart of her work lies a reflection on collective trauma—acknowledging that everyone carries some form of it. Her art offers a space for catharsis, inviting release and renewal, so trauma no longer defines or permeates indefinitely. Through this exploration, Jimena encourages viewers to embark on a transformative journey of self-awareness, authenticity, and connection with their inner wisdom.
