i outlived the demons i grew up with,
now there’s a hole in my chest.
i try to fill it with ambition,
but if i struck gold or found adventure,
i’d have no one to share it with.
i already feel forgotten,
and i haven’t even left.
i have one final goal to see through
before i can rest,
make damn sure my child isn’t walking
