Located 8500 light years away in the Carina-Saggitarius arm of our galaxy, this nebula is 230 light years across and is home to massive regions of glowing ionized gas clouds and dark cosmic dust lanes where stars are forged. Only observable in the Southern hemisphere skies, this image was shot with my rooftop telescope and is the result of combining over 14 hours of exposures taken over two nights. Special narrowband filters were used which allow very specific wavelenghts of light emmited by the nebula to pass, blocking light pollution and enabling this kind of deep space photography from the highly polluted urban skies of Buenos Aires.
