The Honu Collection #16: A Last Look

For the most part, Hawaiian green sea turtles are acclimated to people but when you get to the neighbor islands, there are still some wild places where Honu will head to the ocean at the first sight of a person. While hiking on Kauai, I startled this Honu from an afternoon nap and although I moved away, it still raced back to the ocean. One last look at me on my perch, snapping this portrait.
The Honu Collection is curated from almost 20 years living in Hawaii. I photographed these Honu (Hawaiian green sea turtles) on Oahu, Maui, Kauai, and the Big Island.
I volunteer with several non-profits focused on education, conservation, and outreach for Hawaii’s endangered wildlife, including Mālama i nā Honu, which works with these Honu.
A portion of the proceeds from each sale will be donated to Mālama i nā Honu to provide resources for their conservation efforts. This helps ensure that these beautiful green sea turtles are around for future generations to experience.
