Theia was the Titan goddess of sight (thea) and the shining ether of the bright, blue sky (aithre). She was also, by extension, the goddess who endowed gold and silver with their brilliance and intrinsic value.
Theia bore the Titan Hyperion three shining children--Helios the Sun, Eos the Dawn, and Selene the Moon.
The usual accounts gave her an equally primal origin, said to be the eldest daughter of Gaia (Earth) and Uranus (Sky).
Robert Graves also relates that later Theia is referred to as the cow-eyed Euryphaessa who gave birth to Helios in myths dating to classical antiquity.
Several other ancient mythologies were based on this same source material, including those of Egypt and Greece.
Theia (Planet) was named for her.
She is also referred to as the goddess of sight and brilliance. Theia was regarded as the goddess from which all light proceeded.
