Thematic Intervals carry the entire weight of the 2000 ft (600 meters) high fog rolling over and then through the forests below. The weaving in and out of the trees can be one of the most beautiful sights on the mountain. Getting the perfect height and light is one of the rarest events.
Mount Tamalpais, and San Francisco as a whole, holds some of the best fog in the United States. Every year the thermal inversions create cloud flows that range from 1200 ft above sea level to 2500 ft above sea level. It is above the fog where you get some of the best views.
