My last morning in New Zealand before heading home - hoping for one last ripping sunrise to highlight the already incredible braids of Dart River, Glenorchy.
Not only did I witness a beautiful sunrise, but I was more blown away by how the rising sun slowly revealed the the river braids from under the shadow of the surrounding mountains.
The distinct contrast between light and shadow is what makes this photo a personal favourite. It highlights the river in a more unconventional sense than the images I took just a few minutes later - the type of images more commonly seen on instagram and tourism pages, where the sun is above the ridge and the entire river is bathed in golden light.
