Two of my favourite things; my 1973 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 - and chasing fog.
Since buying the car a few years ago I had always wanted to capture it in full fog on the Black Spur drive - an iconic road about and hour and half outside of Melbourne. I had the exact location and image in mind.
So this particular morning, the charts all pointed to prime conditions for fog. My alarm sounded at 4:30am and I head out to take my bucket shot.
Sure enough, Mother Nature didn’t read the weather report and there was no fog to be found. Well not in the Black Spur anyways…
On the way home, feeling pretty disappointed with the outcome, I came across a side road that I had never driven before, I took the turn and just by chance, it was blanketed with fog. The new location forced me to think outside of the pre-planned and come up with a whole new perspective.
Sometimes as artists, it's when things don't go to plan that we create our best work.
