The series takes its cue from Ed Ruscha’s News, Mews, Pews…, reversing the transatlantic lens. Where Ruscha viewed Britain through an American eye, this work looks back at the United States from a European vantage point, 2025–26. Colour palettes are generated from 2025 Executive Orders and Proclamations, translated into code. Policy becomes pigment. The typeface is drawn from American political media, while the title borrows Steve Bannon’s phrase “muzzle velocity”, a logic of accelerated, saturating communication. Each word is hand rendered in graphite, then eroded through layered processes and overlaid with asemic marks. The text begins to fail. It glitches, folding back on itself through broken hyperlinks. A kind of hypertext hauntology. These works stage the noise and collapse of political language: half-loaded images, dead links, recursive signals. In the churn of headlines, nothing stays legible, or clickable, for ever.
