I, the ancient Leadwood tree, have spent centuries overlooking the African savanna. I’ve seen the floods rage and the droughts turn the plains to dust. I’ve had fires blaze past and watched as humans, both good and bad, walked beneath me. Eagles and vultures have perched upon my branches and bees have filled my hollows with their sweet honey. Lions have found comfort in my cool shadows and elephants have rubbed up against my trunk as their ancestors did before them.
Today is different. As I hold this leopard in the African sky, he devours his smaller cousin - an African Wild Cat. Two wild souls arrive. One will depart into the bushveld, the other into the clouds.
