The telephone poles along this flat stretch of road in California's Central Valley roll by in endless procession. Residents in such country often opt for transportation that contrasts with the landscape, as is certainly the case with this revamped red-hot 1934 Ford Coupe. The hot rod culture flourished in the 1950's in California, enjoyed a renaissance in the 1980's, and has been going strong ever sense. The basic formula is pretty simple: take an old car, perhaps a Ford Model T (or T-bucket), strip it of all non-essentials, shoehorn in a hot, powerful engine and watch out. Models such as this take the formula to a much higher plane, with elaborate modifications and workmanship.
