After battling through 120km of almost broken roads and landslide debris for more than seven hours the day before, this moment felt like the mountains finally welcoming me!
By 8 AM I left my stay for the night & was riding towards Yumthang Valley, but the pull of the road ahead was stronger. I didn’t stop at Yumthang & pushed further towards Zero Point, closer to the Indo-China border.
On the way at around 10:30 AM as I gained some altitude, the mountains opened up!
Snow-covered peaks rose sharply against a flawless blue sky, their shadows spilling into the valley below & in the valley a few clouds were wandering while a silver ribbon of river found its way, carrying the cold breath of glaciers downstream.
Autumn still lingered on one slope, burnt orange leaves of wild flora, while the winter had already claimed the heights above.
I stopped my bike on the hillside, and stood there for a moment; small, still, and completely present, before capturing this frame.
