A story from the future.
After humans colonized the Moon and Mars, they began mining for rare mineral resources, which are highly valuable on Earth. Entire generations were born there, never having seen their ancestral planet, toiling as slaves for the corporation. Essentially, it was a colony with total control over every member of the enslaved society. Electronic bracelets and chips implanted under the skin, visible and hidden surveillance cameras with wiretaps, and armed guards on every corner. Anyone who tried to escape the labor colony would either die or face severe punishment for themselves and their families.
By a twist of fate, in this dark place in the universe, two beautiful souls, filled with love and dreams of a better life and future, came together. Like all branded bees in the hive, they were forced to devote their best years and youthful energies to working for the corporation. Their parents sacrificed their health and lives to work this hard labor to survive and feed their children. You're like expendable material. Time passes, the body wears out, the person goes mad day after day, and ultimately, the tragic end—burning in a crematorium. For all the locals, it was a terrible prison with a one-way ticket.
The main characters of our story never despaired, driven by their love for each other and a shared dream—to escape far away from this cursed place. Ever since childhood, they secretly loved watching films and videos about the planet of their ancestors—Earth. They dreamed of escaping there, seeing the bright blue sky and sun, the vast, endless ocean, and feeling the gentle kiss of a breeze on their faces. They dreamed of seeing a forest, animals, birds, a rainbow, a waterfall, and experiencing rain and snow. The list could go on almost endlessly. A dream, the brightest and most cherished.
To experience at least a little bit of Earthly life, our heroes built their own underground hideaway, which they called the Martian-Earthly Garden, where they grew live plants, watched movies, listened to music, and enjoyed digital art. They dreamed, plotting their escape day after day. They watched, prepared, thinking through every detail. One mistake, even the slightest, and instead of the desired paradise on Earth, they found themselves in the hellish furnace of a Martian crematorium.
One fateful day, their plan began to unfold. Our heroes, choosing the perfect moment and place, neutralized two military guards working for the corporation. They donned their uniforms, took their weapons, forged lenses with retinal scans, and gloves with fingerprints. This allowed them access to the military barracks and the control of starships. The final step in their preparation was removing the tracking chips implanted under their skin.
With extraordinary composure, the story's heroes infiltrated the military base, despite the moments of danger and tension. A few small details, unsuspected, nearly led them to fatal failure. But everything worked out, and our pair boarded the starship. Like a film in fast forward, memorable moments from their existence in this prison, memories of loved ones they had lost, surfaced in their minds. With tears in their eyes and smiles on their faces, they started the starship's engine and set the coordinates to their cherished dream. To their true homeland, the homeland of their ancestors. Far from this hell. After all, a person's true homeland is where their heart feels good.
