The Two Towers

I was among the first ones in line that day to enter The Taj Mahal. It was a foggy winter morning…I entered even before sunrise and was awestruck by the beauty of the Taj in the pinkish morning glow. I roamed around the whole structure multiple times for about 4-5 hours observing every little detail and trying to capture its beauty through my camera. That’s when I chanced upon this frame of the Two Towers! Rising in perfect symmetry, the minarets of the Taj Mahal stand as silent guardians of love and legacy. Carved in marble and crowned by centuries of history, they pierce the sky with a quiet strength…like timeless sentinels watching over one of the world’s most beautiful monuments. There are 4 of these minarets surrounding Taj, each is a cylindrical shaft with a slight taper as it rises, making it appear taller and more elegant (an optical illusion used in Mughal architecture). The marble blocks were quarried, transported (by elephants, carts, and river rafts), and lifted into place using a massive temporary ramp system made up of spiral earthen ramps and scaffolding that functioned like roads to move heavy stones up the minarets.
