I offer you this bread,
not to feed you, but to draw you out, so I may gun you down.
I offer you this water,
not to cleanse, but to become the blood of your children.
I offer you this gun,
so when you resist, I can declare you the aggressor.
If Jesus of Nazareth walked the earth today, a brown skinned Middle Eastern man who preached compassion for the poor, love for the outsider, and stood for the oppressed, he would not be embraced by the institutions and ideologies that claim him. He'd be profiled at borders, labeled a radical, and dismissed as unpatriotic. The very people who shout his name the loudest would be the first to cast him out.
The same state that brands itself as pro-life, obsessed with controlling women's bodies in the name of saving children, is complicit in mass child slaughter. Over 15,000 children have been killed in an ongoing genocide, funded and armed by the United States. It's a hypocrisy so violent, it cannot be ignored. Christianity and Judaism are now co-opted into a geopolitical alliance that enables apartheid and displacement. America's unwavering support of Israel turns religion into a weapon, compassion into collateral, and symbols of peace into instruments of empire.
This artwork is a critique of how faith, nationalism, and state power are weaponized to justify violence and oppression.
