Plav, blauw, urdinak, turchinu, bleu, glas, azul are just a few ways to say “blue” in different languages around the world. This word has many different connotations, but when flying over Maldives this adjective will always come to mind.
This image was taken on the beautiful island of Dhonakulhi, Maldives, in March 2021. The island is part of the Haa Alifu Atoll, which is one of the most northern points of the 1.190 Maldives islands. This crescent-shaped island has numerous structures, which look beautiful from below but take on a totally different perspective from above. Striking constructions only to be seen by birds and a handful of people, who thanks to technology, can share this amazing perspective.
This photograph was taken in the very early hours of the morning due to the intense heat later on in the day. Shadows, light and lack of people make this composition “paradise”.
