"With the expanses of an eternity stretched to a hair's length
He sees nothing
Becomes Everything
A stirring void of potential."
"Eye for an I" is the fourth installment in the Chronicle series. Following the events of PoBH, Severance, and DaO (the three prior installments), Inkblot finds himself in the clutches of the Serpent. Falling into shadow, he floats off as the smoke (a conflicted symbol of both purity and clouded vision) pours from his eyes.
The pervading cultural belief of serpents arise largely through biblical indoctrination; describing a physical manifestation of temptation, "sin", malintent, or otherwise pure evil.
An opposing belief (the belief of my ancestors), however, speaks of snakes and serpents as the symbols of fertility and life; of royal blood. A manifestation of primal instinct integral to our being and difficult to control.
"Eye for an I" speaks to the notion of knowledge gained and choices to be made. It attempts to recon with the concept of a "shed veil", of one coming to understand the landscape around them as something completely divergent from their original impressions. It attempts to illustrate "maturation" in a form unique to itself, as well as the journey to discover the self within the collective.
