Follow the Black Rabbit to the Far End of the Metaverse is about the dilemma of Hong Kong under Beijing rule.
The portal represents either hope and optimism going forward or another round of exile and exodus for the people in Hong Kong.
The artwork was created specifically for the biggest LED billboard during Hong Kong Art Week, for the people of Hong Kong. During the submission process nothing was said about what the different parts of the art work really represented.

I chose not to disclose it to avoid getting banned before the show started.
Even though this is an open ended commentary on the situation, I just operated on the assumption that this might be treated with hostility by certain parties.
Is the Hong Kong situation good? Bad? It depends on how you want it to be, moving forward.

Hong Kong is close to my heart, as I have actual blood ties there (and also to the Pearl Delta area of Guangdong).
One of my own grandaunts made the perilous swim from the mainland into the British territory to escape the famine caused by the Great Leap Forward. She made it, but her friend(s?) got eaten by sharks.
