“Maybe we can just let the energy fade into the earth
Dissipation is not destruction
Reshape within a newfound respite.”
– Down, Never Out (Respite) [written word]
“Down, Never Out (Respite)” is the fifth and final installment in the Chronicle series. Escaping the clutches of the Serpent (see “Eye for an I”) just as daylight breaks over the horizon, Inkblot looks out into the distance. To his shock, the city is much closer than he had originally imagined. Within reach, even. Goaded forward by one of the everpresent sprites that accompany his journey – the Parakeets – he overlooks the city, searching the windows, skyline, and seedy streets. For what, potentially who? I don’t even think he knows.
This series, and more importantly this piece, are indicative of new horizons for my artistic journey. As time unfolds, I aim to make it clear that there is a plan being laid out. Inkblot has become a vagabond in a new world; a wanderer without a destination nor a point at which to return home. The only thing he has to his name is time and potential. Let’s see what he makes of it all.
Accompanying poem available as a bidders edition.
Until next. Thank you for your eyes and thank you for your time thus far.
