A solitary surfer slowly steps towards the Indian Ocean with nothing but the sound of waves crashing against the shoreline to accompany him. Just behind him, stands the lifesaver’s hut, abandoned during the winter months, but silently standing guard over surfers who are brave enough to venture into winter waters.
This image was taken off the coastline of Western Australia, near Mullaloo Beach, in July 2023. Winter months can be challenging for drone pilots in this region due to high gusts of wind and unpredictable sudden storms, however, on this particular flight I was extremely lucky to encounter perfect weather conditions and this lone surfer ready to adventure into the Indian Ocean making the composition exactly as I had envisioned.
