Reading about Vassily Kandinsky has made me think about whether the principle of his painting ideas is true -- that the eternal objective of art is to take the vibrational energy of the painter's experience with something of a higher mental or emotional level and then craft it into an object that can transmit this intention to the audience.
Often, when I am looking at a painting, I feel I am blind, even though I am in touch with and can take in everything that is in front of me. But something is not being transmitted. I wonder if the object of an art piece and the subject of art pieces are so entirely different that they are not "packaged" together at all.
I wonder if in looking at art, we must teach ourselves another sense language to intake the message or the principle of the thing.
What is to be done about this objecthood?
