Extinction Rebellion (XR) is a global environmental movement founded in the UK in 2018. It uses non-violent civil disobedience and direct action to raise awareness about the urgent need to address the climate crisis and ecological collapse. The main goals of XR include demanding climate emergency declarations, reaching net-zero emissions by 2025, establishing citizens' assemblies for climate policy-making, advocating for systemic change, and addressing climate justice issues. XR has gained attention through disruptive protests and actions to emphasize the urgency of the climate crisis and the need for immediate action.
