The Wedding is a large-scale portrait series and exhibition exploring the layered stories of a Nigerian wedding through the lens of myth, memory, and modernity, stories told in African context but with Western technique. Told in 25 paintings, the story unfolds as a visual ceremony—from the intimate tensions of family, to the chaos of friends and guests, to a climactic Lagos-scale finale titled The First Supper / The Wedding at Lagos.
This body of work is a precursor to my collection, The Resurgence. Each portrait is rendered in my established visual language: restrained, monumental, scarred, and sacred. Together, they document not just a union between two people—but between worlds.
