Beyond Recognition is an on-going series of digital collages made with Grid Lab, an app I developed using Claude to extend a decade of hand-cutting practice into software. Each work begins with a curated image, scanned from my vast collection of printed material, mid-century modern books, magazines and portraiture gathered over the years. The source is then processed with the app, cut into grid like patterns, sometimes using multiple passes until the face slips just out of reach, leaving only the fragments and a faint hint of something familiar.
