stop loss // there is blood in the streets
created with MK84s and a self-portrait
the MK84 is an American-made bomb that has been used in places such as Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan and most recently in Gaza.
the night after creating this, I dreamt about the very visually similar Pink Floyd album cover, "The Wall." I woke up and turned on the song Mother, which Roger Waters (outspoken critic of Israel) opens with the line, "Mother, do you think they'll drop the bomb?"
the red umbrella also happens to be a symbol for sex workers which adds a personal dimension to the piece, the disposability of bodies and the fate of survivors
